Peridot Figurine

One of my home crafts is this Peridot figurine from the show 'Steven Universe'. It's made entirely out of air dry clay and painted with acrylics. The first step was to make the rough shapes of each of the body parts which were then held together by pieces of wire. I needed them to be able to fit into one another but also be able to remove them at will.

I then took each of these sections and sanded them down with sand paper. The character has both flat and rounded surfaces so sanding it proved to be a challenging but fun task.

The pieces were later painted with acrylics before I put them back together. This ensured I wouldn't get any paint on parts I didn't want.

After the paint dried I added a facial expression to the character as the final touch.
